What You Can Do Now

Recognize your implicit biases.

Stop and listen when a Black person speaks.

Seek out Black educators.

Learn about micro-agressions, and how to avoid doing them.

Invite a Black family over for your barbecue party.

Avoid calling people “colored”.

Need a cup of coffee? Take a Black friend with you.

Going to a conference? Befriend a Black person and hang out with them.

Going to the grocery store? Ask someone how they would cook the vegetables they are picking out.

Hold the door open for a Black person.

Don’t cross to the other side of the street when you see a Black person. Ask them to join you.
